Installation of American Transformer at Cement Plant in Indonesia

Problem
There are 4 (four) production lines / units with an ESP as a dust collector for each unit in the plant. The Transformer Rectifier (T/R) being used in ESP Unit 1, 2, and 3 were European whereas Indian T/R was being used in ESP Unit 4. It was found that the Indian T/R with rating of 130 kV; 1800mA was broken after running for only 3-4 years compared to the European T/R that could run normally up to several more years without any problem.
Solution
Tai & Chyun proposed to replace the Indian T/R with American T/R of the same quality as European one. We were awarded with 1 (one) set of American T/R order including technical direction for installation and commissioning. It had been ensured that the new American T/R could be installed directly without major modification required.

Benefit
The performance of new T/R met customer’s expectation and worked well as shown in below table of readings. Since the results turned out to be satisfactory, customer placed a repeat order of 5 (five) more sets of American T/R for another ESP unit. Below table shows readings from all the fields of Raw Mill ESP Unit 4.

*) Field 05 is where the new American T/R was installed by Tai & Chyun. The T/R rating was intentionally limited to 1500mA in accordance with requirement of the plant.
