ESP of a petrochemical plant located in Southern part of Taiwan.

Problem

Bridging and rat holing found at the hopper due to:

1. Dust accumulation on hopper walls
2. Poor dust conveying system
3. Hopper through clogging by compacted dust

Solution

Tai & Chyun was awarded the contract to evaluate and propose a remedy to reduce the hopper dust accumulation. The installation of the sonic horn was recommended to loosen the dust before it creates compacted dust at the hopper throat. The main advantages of the sonic horn are：

• Do not damage the hopper walls
• Low hertz sonic horn can send vibrations to a wider range, thereby helping in removing dust
• Easy maintenance

Benefits

Dust buildup was effectively reduced after the installation of the sonic horns, thereby minimizing ESP trip and downtime to clean the hoppers. Prompt maintenance and repair is provided in case of any problems encountered. Also, good after sales and periodic maintenance services are rendered.
